For all of these self-glorifying preoccupations

There are simple truths I’ve mistaken
In wasted words over simple matters
There are children playing four-square
Orbiting a yellow ball
They are laughing like there is no one
There is nothing beyond the four squares
Where I convince myself I am an atom of dust kicked up by a jump rope

For all of these self-nullifying slight misconceptions
Have I known atonement?
